Wind, Strings, Percussion, and Canoes
The Red Cedar Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Josh Aerie of Duluth, MN, will be performing their home concert on Friday, November 4th, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Wisconsin – Barron County Fine Arts Theatre. The Concert of Thanksgiving features Aaron Copland’s “Variations on a Shaker Melody,” Virgil Thompson’s “Pilgrims and Pioneers” from the John Houseman film “Journey to America,” and Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5 – Reformation.” Tickets for the Rice Lake Concert will be available at the door and are $12 for adults, $5 for students and children under 10 are free. You can show your program at Lehman’s or Adventures in Rice Lake for 15% off your food bill after the concert.
In an unusual collaboration between non-profits, the RCSO will be performing the second of their two fall concerts at the Wisconsin Canoe Heritage Museum in Spooner. Museum doors will open at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th, 2011, for wine and hor dourves, and a preview of one of next year’s feature exhibits, “The Canoes of John Henry Rushton.”
The Concert begins at 7:00 p.m. The Red Cedar Symphony Orchestra is based in Rice Lake and features 45 musicians from all over Northwest Wisconsin. Tickets for the concert in Spooner, which include refreshments and a chance at a door prize, are $20 advance and $25 at the door. Teens and children are $10. Space is limited so reservations are recommended for the Saturday evening concert and can be made by calling 888-604-2112, or emailing j malisch@centurytel.net.
