
Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults and $5 for students age 12
and older, and will be available at the door. Students younger than 12 are free
when accompanied by a parent.

cover the expense of producing concerts. We need further assistance

life. The people of northwestern Wisconsin enjoy a wealth of talent
through its theatre groups, visual artists, and musical groups. Red Cedar
Symphony is one unique facet of that cultural gem.

The
concert will be guest conducted by Josh Aerie, an experienced conductor,
educator, chamber musician, and performing and recording artist. Josh received
his Master of Music degree in Cello Performance from the
University
of Colorado, and completed his
undergraduate work at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Oberlin College,
where he received both a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance and a Bachelor
of Arts with Honors in Anthropology.
Mr. Aerie currently lives in Duluth,
Minnesota, and is on the music faculty at both the
College
of St. Scholastica and Mesabi Range
Community and Technical
College. In 2007 he was
appointed Music Director and Conductor of the Mesabi Community Orchestra,
currently in its 30th season. Mr. Aerie also conducts the Duluth Community
Orchestra and in the summer of 2007, founded the Woodland Chamber Music
Workshop.
He has performed numerous public cello recitals in the Northland,
collaborated with the area's foremost musicians in chamber music, and is a
founding member of the Gichigami Piano Trio. Additionally, he serves as
Principal Cellist of both the Duluth Festival Opera and Lyric Opera of the
North.
Before moving to Duluth in 2006, Mr. Aerie lived in the
Washington,
D.C. and
Los Angeles areas. He has performed with numerous
orchestras and for various dignitaries, including Vice President Dick Cheney,
Secretary of Veterans' Affairs Anthony Principi, foreign ambassadors, and
members of congress. He has played at the Kennedy Center,
Walt Disney Concert Hall, Tanglewood, the Library of Congress, and the
Smithsonian museums, and has appeared on numerous recordings, film soundtracks,
and nationally-syndicated television programs.
Emily Vanda, a mezzo soprano
from Spooner, will perform Gluck's "Che faro senza Euridice?" from Orfeo Ed
Euridice. Emily is a senior at Spooner High School
where she is a member of the select choir. She has also been involved with the
Spooner Community Choir, and has sung with the WSMA treble choir. Along with
going to the WI State Solo and Ensemble Festival on several occasions, Emily has
received the Dorothy Keith Award twice for competing in the Intermezzo Music
Award Auditions. Vanda plans to attend UW-Superior next year and study Vocal
Performance.

Jordyn Beranek, a soprano
of Rice Lake, will perform Gounod's "Ah! Je veux
vivre (from Romeo and Juliette)". Jordyn is a junior at Rice
Lake
High School where she is a
member of the Blue and Gold Show Choirs. She has also performed with school &
church choirs and the Red Cedar Chorus. She has performed with the WSMA Honors
Choirs, at the UW-EC Clearwater Choral Festival and has been involved with her
high school drama department and the Northern Star Theatre. Recent roles
include: Princess Winnifred in Once Upon A Mattress and Cosette in Les
Miserables. She has been active in both district and state Solo/Ensembles and
was recently chosen as a national finalist for Classical Singer's scholarship
competition. Beranek plans to attend a 4-year college and major in voice
performance and music education.

Susan Halderman of Eau Claire, will perform
Vivaldi's "Concerto in A Minor op. 26, no. 2" for cello. Susan holds a Bachelor
of Music degree from the University
of WI – Oshkosh,
and a Master of Music degree from
Kent
State
University. She has taught public school orchestra
in Mississippi and South Carolina and has played cello in many orchestras
including the Oshkosh Symphony, Canton Symphony ()H), Meridian Symphony (MS),
Mississippi Symphony and presently performs with the Eau Claire Chamber
orchestra, the Chippewa Valley Symphony and the Red Cedar Symphony. She has
created two cello ensembles: the Eau Claire Cello Ensemble and the Chippewa
Valley Cello Ensemble. She has taught private cello lessons since college and
currently runs a cello studio, The Cello Connection, in
Eau Claire.

Cheri Sorenson of Rice
Lake, will perform Albert Franz Doppler's "Fantasie
Pastorale Hongroise op. 26" for flute. Cheri started playing flute at the age of
8 and after high school toured with the USA Band. She graduated from the U of MN
with a degree in Math Education. Cheri has been involved with playing flute for
numerous church ensembles, pit orchestras and community musicals. She has
provided music for many weddings. Cheri has performed with community bands in
Albuquerque,
NM, Chicago, IL and Rice
Lake. She most recently
performed with the Red Cedar Symphony Orchestra in the Fall, 2007 concert.

Adam Klefstad of Boyceville
and a junior at Prairie
Farm High
School will perform Rimsky-Korsakov's "Concerto for
Trombone". Adam has performed musically at many church services and with his
church youth group, church choir, and the Red Cedar Symphony Orchestra. He has
also performed in all-conference bands, state FFA bands and the WI School of
Music Association (WSMA) State Honors band. Adam plans to continue his music by
playing piano and trombone for church and performing in several various music
groups.
